I think this is going to prove to be a more lopsided deal than it already appears to be. So, not only is AI coming back East, he's coming to play for Mo-town! And, it's a sweetheart deal for Joe D. I hate this. Word is, Dice may retire instead of even reporting to the Nugs. He'll sit out 30 days, then re-sign with Detroit. So what are we talking about? Chauncey for AI. At least when McHale gave Boston one of the best of his generation, he got a young power player destined to be an All Star several times over. What did Denver get for one of the best pure scorers ever? An over the hill, so-called "Mr. Big Shot" with two more years on his contract. They're not even a definite playoff team with that roster. Wouldn't it have made sense to get a young stud, some picks, something worth anything 2 years from now when Melo hits his prime?

Detroit's new starting lineup:

Stuckey
AI
Prince
Maxiel
Sheed

with Rip as a superduper 6th man.

Detroit just got the go-to scorer they've never had. They got tougher. And most of all, they got $35 M off the books come the end of the season when AI and Sheed's contracts expire. So, instead of Denver having cap space to go after Booz, it'll be your Detroit Pistons. Motherfucker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right?

And let's not forget the historical implications. One: these fuckers bounced us from the 2nd round of the 2003 playoffs on some of the stank-ass fishiest officiating in NBA history. Two: Larry Brown dumped us like a first wife turned 40 a few weeks later and went to D'Trois -- where he would lead them to a championship. Three: Isiah Thomas.

I hate this team. No, no -- I HATE this team.

Can you imagine Rip and A.I. on the floor at the same time, two of the fastest guards in the L? How you gonna guard against those two?

Fuck me. Fuck us. Hand 'em the trophy now.

P.S. By contrast, the Erz have looked like ASS so far.

P.P.S. Tell you what else Motown needed: something to pump Sheed up and shift him into sixth gear for the next 8 months. Well? Done.

Bonus!

I heard Stephen A. Smith talking about the parity of the trade. "Well, the Nuggets were looking for more of a pure point guard to run that offense," he explained (paraphrased). Oh, you mean like Andre Miller?!

Well done. Your team couldn't get shit done two years ago -- so in that time you essentially went from 'Dre to a lesser, older "pure" PG, AND dropped your best center (Camby). This is gonna work how?!
